Sarajevo - Excursions and day trips

Whether you want to spend the day hiking, exploring old towns, or relaxing in the sun, Sarajevo has many day trips to choose from. You can take in some of the country's most beautiful waterfalls or visit the town of Jajce, where Ottoman architecture is still prevalent. If you are a fan of nature, you may prefer the Sutjeska National Park, a 120-km drive south of Sarajevo. The national park is isolated and is not accessible by public transport, but you can hire a private vehicle to get there.

For history buffs, the Pyramids of Visoko are not to be missed. These ancient pyramids are not burial sites, but instead monuments that have been excavated and display the history of the city. There is also a museum that has items that were found in the pyramids. There are also underground labyrinths that are worth seeing. You will need to walk about 40 minutes to reach the pyramids.

For a day of relaxation and beach-bumming, you can visit the nearby coastal town of Neum. You can swim in the ocean and enjoy the coastal ambiance. You can also check out the numerous seafood restaurants along the waterfront. The town of Neum is an ideal place to visit in the summer months. The area is also home to several historic sites, including the Pliva Watermills.

If you are interested in learning more about the Siege of Sarajevo, there are several tours to consider. You can explore the Jewish Cemetery, which is associated with the siege, or you can visit the War Tunnel Museum, which is located close to the site of the longest siege in history. A guided tour of this area is recommended. If you are interested in visiting the Srebrenica Genocide Memorial, you can also schedule a tour. This memorial contains over 8,300 gravestones, which list the names of victims of the genocide.

The historic town of Pocitelj is another popular Sarajevo day trip. The town is small but has a lot of historical significance. Its main thoroughfare is lined with cafes and boutiques, and you can find a few restaurants as well. There are also a few farm stalls in the area, so you can enjoy a meal while watching the scenery.

During the winter, most tourists choose to travel to the nearby mountains of Bjelasnica and Igman. These mountains are located close to Sarajevo and are a popular destination for vacationers looking to relax. You can also try a hike up Trebevic mountain, which offers panoramic views of the city. You will also have the opportunity to visit the Valley of Heroes, which is a memorial for the fallen soldiers from the Battle of Sutjeska during WWII.

FAQ
+
Do I have to give my guide a tip?
No. It is not required and not expected of you to tip your guide. However, if one is presented, the guide might accept a gratuity. To guarantee that they are fairly compensated for their time, each guide sets the price of their tours. They do not depend on gratuities from tours as a result. If you want to support your guide, write a review of your tour.
+
What happens once I make a reservation?
After making the payment, you should wait at least 24 hours prior to the travel date for your Local Expert to confirm the requested date. If your reservation is approved, a confirmation email will be sent to your registered email address with the reservation's specifics and the Local Expert's direct contact information.
+
Is it possible to py in cash?
We have a policy that states that a reservation can only be verified after a legitimate payment has been made on our website. The process aids in preventing disputes that could occur while paying in cash in person. You can be confident that this money won't be given to the Local Expert right away. After your tour is over, Excursopedia will hold it and then provide it to the Local Guide.
+
How can I find out if a reservation has been confirmed?
When you finish making your online payment and the Local Guide accepts your booking request, your reservation will be finalized. You will receive a confirmation email. Don't worry; if the Local Guide does not confirm your booking after you provide your credit card information, the transaction will not be completed.
