Bergen - excursions and day trips

Located on the southwest coast of Norway, Bergen is a wonderful city. As a port town, it offers a wide variety of excursions and day trips. From whale watching and fjords to island hopping, there are plenty of options to choose from.

A great way to see Bergen is by taking a funicular ride. The panoramic funicular will take you to the top of Mount Floyen in about 7 minutes. From here, you can enjoy panoramic views of the town and the surrounding mountains. You will get a glimpse of the city's history as well.

Alternatively, you can walk up to the summit of Mount Floyen. The route is about three kilometers from the city centre. The trail is marked with signs to indicate which way to go. There is a restaurant at the top of the mountain as well.

You can also visit the open-air museum Gamle Bergen. It is made up of fifty wooden houses from various centuries. It is a great place to learn about the history of the city and its people. There are guided tours that are available in July and August.

Bergen

Another way to see Bergen is by joining a Segway tour. The city has many attractions, including museums, restaurants, and shopping streets. You will be able to see many of the landmarks in a safe and fun manner. You will need to hold onto the Segway and lean back to control the tour. You will be able to ride along the city's most popular sights, as well as cobbled alleys and historic buildings.

A great way to see the Norwegian fjords is to take a full day trip to the Hardangerfjord. This fjord is one of the most beautiful in Norway and has a 111 mile waterway that you can explore. You will see waterfalls, mountains, and wildlife. You can also take a boat tour to see the fjord from the water.

You can also take a bus or bike tour around Bergen. You will have to purchase a Bergen Card in order to ride for free. The City Sightseeing bus passes by major attractions and stops at 13 different locations in the city centre. It includes audio commentary. There are several itineraries to choose from, and you can even sign up for an English-speaking guide.

Bergen

You can also visit the Fantoft Stave Church, which was rescued from demolition in 1992 and now has a replica. You can take a 10-minute bus ride from the city centre to the Fantoft Station. Then, it is a ten minute walk to the church.

The Floibanen funicular is also very popular. It has been operating since 1918 and offers spectacular views of the fjord and the city. It can be crowded at times, especially before 4 p.m. You can take a short walk to the funicular's departure point for a more leisurely ride. However, you will have to wait in long lines if you want to take the funicular after 10 a.m.

FAQ
+
Do I have to give my guide a tip?
No. It is not required and not expected of you to tip your guide. However, if one is presented, the guide might accept a gratuity. To guarantee that they are fairly compensated for their time, each guide sets the price of their tours. They do not depend on gratuities from tours as a result. If you want to support your guide, write a review of your tour.
+
What happens once I make a reservation?
After making the payment, you should wait at least 24 hours prior to the travel date for your Local Expert to confirm the requested date. If your reservation is approved, a confirmation email will be sent to your registered email address with the reservation's specifics and the Local Expert's direct contact information.
+
Is it possible to py in cash?
We have a policy that states that a reservation can only be verified after a legitimate payment has been made on our website. The process aids in preventing disputes that could occur while paying in cash in person. You can be confident that this money won't be given to the Local Expert right away. After your tour is over, Excursopedia will hold it and then provide it to the Local Guide.
+
How can I find out if a reservation has been confirmed?
When you finish making your online payment and the Local Guide accepts your booking request, your reservation will be finalized. You will receive a confirmation email. Don't worry; if the Local Guide does not confirm your booking after you provide your credit card information, the transaction will not be completed.
